About

Nine people. No juniors on your site. No decks that end at the recommendation.

The Northbridge team in conversation in their Kolkata studio

Why we started

Arundhati and Devesh met in 2011 auditing a fabrication plant that was quoting off a cost sheet nobody had touched in four years. Both had sat on the operating side of consulting reports and watched the same pattern: a strong diagnosis, a confident recommendation, and nothing installed. Northbridge was built to close that gap — we stay through the first four quarterly reviews, whether the numbers move or not.

Eleven years on, the practice is deliberately small: nine people, four new clients a year, and partners on site for the full engagement.

What we believe

Diagnosis before prescription

We have walked away from work after the diagnostic more than a dozen times. It is the most useful thing we sell.

Numbers over narrative

If a claim cannot survive the ledger, it does not go in the memo.

Hand over the chair

An engagement that leaves your team dependent on us has failed, however good the quarter looked.

The practice

Arundhati Basu

Founding Partner

Fifteen years as a plant controller across two auto-component groups before founding Northbridge. Leads margin and pricing work.

Devesh Rao

Founding Partner

Former operations director in industrial distribution. Builds the scorecards and chairs the first month of every cadence install.

Meera Iyer

Ex-corporate development at a listed chemicals group. Runs adjacency screens and capital feasibility modelling.

Thomas Okonjo

Principal, London

Leads engagements for UK and EU subsidiaries of our Indian clients, and cross-border pricing work.

Three things we won't do

  • We do not run headcount-reduction programmes.
  • We do not take success fees tied to a transaction.
  • We do not staff engagements with anyone under three years of operating experience.
